MSP360 constantly works on enhancement of our products. Today we are happy to introduce support for OpenStack regions in MSP360 Explorer for OpenStack – a file manager that allows creating, browsing, modifying and deleting files and containers on any OpenStack-compatible storage.
Now users of OpenStack-based cloud storage services can specify a region in which their data will be stored. It means that you can specify a region for any container within RackSpace and other OpenStack-based cloud storage services that have multiple regions.
Note: To specify a region for your OpenStack container you need to register your OpenStack account with MSP360 Explorer using KeyStone Authentication. In MSP360 Explorer Keystone auth is now the default option.
How to Specify a Region for OpenStack with MSP360 Explorer
1. Run MSP360 Explorer for OpenStack.
2. Select cloud storage you want to create a bucket in special region.
3. Click on the “New Container” icon.
or right-click on any object within your account and select “New Container”.
4. Specify a name for your new container and select a region from the drop-down list. Click “OK”.
If you have done everything correctly, now you should have a container in the region of your choice. Please, note that you can copy/move files between containers of different regions.
Authentication Enhancements
We've upgraded authentication procedures to make registering new accounts even faster and easier.
In previous versions user had to specify “\tokens” ending for Keystone authentication service. In renewed MSP360 Explorer for OpenStack it is not needed anymore. Endpoints are added automatically and no additional actions from the user are required.
Also we have added automatic upgrade for previously registered cloud storage accounts. Now every account in MSP360 Explorer will be authorized with Keystone authentication.
If you’ve been using OpenStack-based cloud storage account without Keystone authentication, after upgrade of MSP360 Explorer for OpenStack it will be automatically switched to Keystone auth.
