With the MSP360 Managed Backup 5.5 release, we have significantly reworked the Remote Deploy feature to address our customers’ need for simplified backup management at scale. With the changes we introduced, we have made it more flexible, controlled, and transparent.
What’s Remote Deploy? Remote Deploy is an MSP360 Managed Backup feature designed to simplify backup configuration routines on multiple computers. With Remote Deploy, you can create/import, edit, and delete custom backup configuration templates to apply them to selected computers, selected companies, or all companies and computers under management in bulk. Learn more in this post.
New Remote Deploy Configuration Logic
There are three major improvements in the Remote Deploy configuration setup.
To avoid configuration conflicts, make sure all target computers have the latest version of the backup agent installed.
- Avoid unwanted configuration changes. Now the configuration is automatically applied to individual computers only once. If the configuration has already been distributed to a list of computers, later modifications will not automatically be applied to the same machines. By default, these modifications will be applied to new computers only.
- Manually confirm configuration updates. To apply the modified version of a backup configuration to individual computers that have already had a configuration deployed, you must select them manually from the list.
- Exclude computers from configuration. In this release, we also added an option to exclude computers from a Remote Deploy configuration. Now you can apply a configuration template to a preselected group of computers or a company, and specify which systems should stay untouched.
