Introducing MSP360 Backup 3.6 with BMR and System State Backup
Windows Server backup software by MSP360 now has a couple of new useful features that significantly extend the capabilities of the backup application. These new features are System State Backup and Bare Metal Recovery.

Please note that this article refers to MSP360 Backup 3.6 released in September 2013. You might want to check out our newer guides on bare-metal recovery and system state backup.

System State Backup

System State Backup is a feature that allows to back up and recover operating system related components. A created backup file can be used to recover critical operating system components in case of system corruption instead of reconfiguring them.
With System State Backup you can back up and recover:
  • Operating system boot file,
  • System registry,
  • COM and database,
  • Active directory,
  • System volume
  • and other OS components.
System State Backup feature can be used for both – servers and workstations. It is useful for most users as it helps to minimize the consequences of system crash and prevent a loss of valuable data.

Bare Metal Recovery

Bare Metal Recovery is a feature that allows full backup and recovery of the system state, applications, applications data and users profile data. Recovery can be performed on a computer from “Bare Metal” – with no operating system or any software installed. MSP360 Backup creates an image of a computer’s system critical disks with all of the data on them. With such backup file, you will be able to recover your server with all system disks you had on a moment of backup.
Nowadays Bare Metal Recovery is the most efficient way to prevent the loss of all the data on a computer. MSP360 Backup allows Bare Metal Recovery from Amazon S3, from the file system, from the FTP/SFTP server. Bare Metal recovery from Azure or from any of multiple supported cloud storages is also possible. The data you have backed up can be recovered anytime to any workstation or server with no need to have a hardware configuration that is identical to those on the source of the backup.
Bare Metal Recovery from Amazon S3 can also be an efficient way to transfer system state and the entire user’s data to a new “Bare Metal” workstation or server. This feature helps to transfer all the data and settings with no need for complicated and time-consuming installation and configuration procedures.
Note: MSP360 Backup 3.6 supports only Windows 2008 R2 and higher versions with Bare Metal Recovery.

Conclusion

MSP360 Backup with Bare Metal Recovery to Azure and System State backup features has become even more powerful and efficient. Now it provides users with the outstanding security level and can bring a peace of mind for all of those who care about their digital data.
