MSP360 Explorer Supports JSON Format for Keystone Authentication

MSP360 Explorer Supports JSON Format for Keystone Authentication

Note: This post applies to MSP360 Explorer for OpenStack 1.5 and later

New versions of OpenStack Keystone API currently tend to support only JSON format for their requests, deprecating the XML format. So now MSP360 Explorer for OpenStack fully supports JSON format that allows you to use newer versions of Keystone API.

How it works

When you register a new OpenStack-compatible storage account in MSP360 Explorer using Keystone Authentication, MSP360 Explorer initially sends an authentication request to the Keystone API and receives an "authentication success/failure" response from it as a message in either XML or JSON format depending on the certain version of the API.

Previously, MSP360 Explorer could only accept such responses in XML format. Starting from now, our product can successfully accept and parse the Keystone API responses not only in XML format but in JSON format as well. This significantly extends the capabilities of our product since JSON format has been already used by a number of OpenStack-compatible storage providers.

Conclusion

With the ability to accept messages in JSON formats, MSP360 Explorer has become an even more powerful and advanced solution. You can download a 15-days fully functional trial version of our product and check if it meets your needs and requirements!
