Today at re:Invent, Amazon introduced the new archive storage class called Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval, and we’re happy to announce that it’s now supported in MSP360 Backup 7.2.3 and MSP360 Explorer 6.2.1.
Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval is the lowest-cost storage for rarely accessed workloads with immediate access to data and millisecond retrieval
Amazon S3 Glacier Storage Classes
Amazon continually improve their storage services to provide customers with greater flexibility in storage management and reduce costs even more significantly. The new Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval serves as a cost-effective and immediately accessible tool for long-term storage, such as archives required for compliance.
Now you can choose from three archive storage classes designed specifically for different archival needs in MSP360 Backup 7.2.3 and MSP360 Explorer 6.2.1:
-
- Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval
- Amazon S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval (formerly S3 Glacier)
- Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive
Access pattern | Retrieval time | Data retrieval price | |
S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval | Highly accessible archives. Accessed once a quarter | Milliseconds | $0.03/GB |
S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval | Immediate access is not required. Accessed once a year | Minutes. Free bulk retrievals in 5-12 hours | Expedited: $0.03/GB Standard: $0.01/GB Bulk: $0.00 |
S3 Glacier Deep Archive | No need for immediate access. Accessed less than once a year | 12-48 hours | Standard: $0.02/GB Bulk: $0.0025/GB |
